Harry Dayboll

Passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Elsie (nee Radics) for 71 years. Loving father of David (Hillie), Dennis (Louise), Leslie (Linda), Judy Letson (Tom), Stanley (Janet) and Paul (Cathy). Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Velma Fenyves and Isabel McIntyre. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his parents Alonzo and Beatrice Dayboll, brother Lloyd, brother-in-law’s Joseph Fenyves, Ian McIntyre, Paul Radics and Jack Billyard.

Harry worked at General Motors for 25 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. James and St. Brendan Anglican Church and Humberstone Lions Club. He volunteered with Boy Scouts Canada for 39 years, where he served as treasurer for 14 years. Harry received many volunteer awards including the Melvin Jones Fellowship and Helen Keller Fellowship. Harry was honoured by the community by renaming the former Oakwood Park in his honour for his over 50 years of stewardship of the 12th Port Colborne Scout/Humberstone Lions hall. Family was Harry’s greatest joy. He always looked forward to the next family event. He showed his Christian faith through compassion for the community. He touched the lives of many people with his volunteerism and generosity. He was always willing to help and provided leadership when necessary. We will all miss Harry, a man who loved, cared, and in his own humble way, tried to make the world a better place.

The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, June 7th from 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Armstrong Chapel with Rev. Canon Robert Hurkmans officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
