With his family by his side, he passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8th at Douglas Memorial Hospital at the age of 76.
He will be missed by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Helen (nee Chevrette). He was the beloved father of John Crites and Tammy (John) Shanahan, and he was an amazing Puppy to grandchildren Caitlin (Dave) Williams, Ashley (Jason) Young, Courtney Crites and Dillan Crites and great grandchildren Penny Williams and Daryn Richards. Claude is survived by his sisters Rejeanne Beauregard, Cecile (Don) Laurin, brother Jack (Marlene) Crites, sisters in law Virginia Crites, Agathe Crites, Alberta (Emile) Roy, Pauline (Don) Bennett, Lucy (Bill) O’Hara, brother in law Shorty (Rachel) Chevrette and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Camille and Lucien Crites, brothers Adoris, Gerald, Donald, Reginald, Raymond and Gerry and sisters Lise Laurin and Annette Lyrette.
Claude was a sweet and gentle man who could light up a room with his smile and laugh. He was always ready to drive the kids anywhere at the drop of a hat.
Claude was a dedicated INCO employee for 36 years. He played shuffleboard for over 50 years at the provincial and national levels and was inducted into the Canadian Shuffleboard Congress Hall of Fame in October of 2013.

Claude’s family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Armstrong Chapel at 11 a.m. with Father Wieslaw Woloszyn officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
