George Martin Maxemuck

It is with heaviest hearts that we must sadly announce the passing on Friday, January 12, 2018, of our beloved father, George Martin Maxemuck, at the Welland General Hospital in his 87th year.

Predeceased by his first wife Jean, sisters Margaret and Theresa, brother Steve and step-son Roland.

Loving father of Christopher (Laurie), Scott and Jeff and cherished grandpa of Christopher, Jason (Krista), Lindsey (Blake) Dudgeon and Eric (Stephanie). Much loved great grandpa of Troy and Jack and brother of Peter (Annette), Alex (Sue) and Mary. He will be sorely missed by his long time partner Carmen Cousineau, her children Carmel (Rick), Ron (Monique), Jacques (Tina), and Carol (Kevin), their families, his many nieces and nephews, and his best buddy and canine pal “Gizmo”.

George was raised on a small rural farm in Portage La Prairie then came east to Ontario in 1950 where he was hired by INCO for 44 years as a hard working blacksmith, before his retirement.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and became an avid pigeon racer where he later went on to earn many accolades for doing so in the greater Niagara Region in his adopted home of Port Colborne.

George was a lover of people, sports, politics and the world around him in general. His pinnacle was his achievement of donating more than 100 pints of blood to the Red Cross.

George’s family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the Armstrong Chapel at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Andrysiak officiating. Interment will follow at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the United Way of South Niagara.
