Peppina Tavano

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Northland Pointe in her 90th year. Beloved wife, for 65 years, of the late Domenico Tavano (2021). Loving and adored mother of Sam (Joanne), Sera Daisley (Dave), Tony (Marla), and Mary Winger (Lloyd). Cherished Nonna of Andrea (James), Adam (Carly), Michael (Katie), Nicholas (Vanessa), Matthew (Emily), Nathan, Zachary and Aaron and her precious great-grandson, Luca.

Peppina is survived by her brother, Giuseppe Paone (Angelina) and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter in-law Lisa, her parents Felice and Maria Domenica Paone, sisters Maria Giuseppa Scalzo (Pietro), Maria Gigliotti (Domenico), Felice and Maria Rosa Tavano (Vincenzo).

Peppina was born in Gimigliano, Catanzaro, Italy and came to Canada in 1953. She married Domenico in 1956 and together they settled into their home in Port Colborne. Peppina was a long-time member of the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed preparing many meals, especially Sunday lunch for the family. She loved to knit and enjoyed her sweets, but she especially loved taking care of her grandchildren. Her smile and kind nature will be remembered by all those who knew her.

A special thank you to Dr. Emily Wilson and the staff at Northland Pointe for the care and compassion shown toward our mother.
