Obituary of Mary Biro
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing, after a short illness, of the matriarch of our family, known to many as “Mother Mary”, on August 28, 2018 at the age of 87. Mary left behind daughter Sharon Chevalier (Kyle Hope), grandchildren Chad (Lisa), Mandy (Brian), Ryan (Lynn), and Brandon (Moose). Loving great-grandmother of Alanna, Alexis, Tristan, Haley, Carlee, and Jacob. Predeceased by parents Les and Anna Sabo, siblings Rose Barna, Frank Sabo, and Les Sabo, husbands Joseph Illes and Leslie Biro, and son in law Harry Chevalier. She enjoyed spending time with her furry friend Miah and feeding the neighbourhood birds. She lived an extraordinary life, always there to help those around her with a smile on her face. As an owner of Illes’ grocery, a proud member of the ESAC Ladies Auxiliary, the Horticultural Society, and of Kossuth Park, she touched the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. Thank you to the nurses and PSW's of the fourth floor at Welland Hospital and to Dr. Awobem for her care.
Cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. A celebration of life will be held at Kossuth Park on Sunday, September 16th from 1pm-4pm. If you are attending, we ask that you bring a canned good to be donated to the local food bank
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local humane society.
