Obituary of Robert Gerald Benner

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Welland Hospital at the age of 83. Predeceased by daughter Nancy (1982), parents Laverne and Olive, brother Gord and sister Sharon. Much loved husband for 61 years of Adeline (nee Jennings)and cherished father Robert (Pauline), Karen, Ron (Michelle) and Brenda (Dennis). Beloved papa of Bobby (Raechal), Bryan (Ashley), Bruce (Roxy), Bridget (Rick), Jack, Becky, Sarah (Tyson), Samarah (Drew), Nick and Erik (Tamara), and dear great grandpa of 17. He will be forever missed by his brothers Bruce and Wayne (Debra), Adeline’s 10 siblings and their families and his over 300 nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Robert was a longtime resident of Port Colborne and retired from John Deere after 30 years. He had a passion for trains, enjoyed the occasional stiff shot of rye with his grandchildren and was a car enthusiast who enjoyed racing of any kind. The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Due to COVID restrictions attendance will be monitored and gathering limits will be enforced. There will be a private funeral service held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with burial following at Overholt Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to St Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
