Obituary of Mary Tonnos
November 23, 1929-January 7, 2022
It is with greatly saddened hearts that we, the Tonnos family, announce the passing of Mary, our beautiful, cherished Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Joseph Tonnos (1994), her parents Stephen and Mary Plese and her brothers Steve, Charles and John Plese. Mary lived her life for those she loved and gave of herself in quiet, unassuming ways. She was selfless and devoted to caring for her family and leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love for all of us to cherish. We will always be grateful for the influence she had on our lives.
She was the most loving Mother and Mother in law to Jo Ann Tonnos Morrison, Lorene Tonnos Simic and her husband Al Simic, Joseph Tonnos and his wife Jasmine (Wakil) Tonnos and Fred Tonnos and his wife Lynda (McNall) Tonnos. Mary was a proud and loving grandmother to Scott and Colleen Morrison, Chad Tonnos, Drs. Matthew and Amy Tonnos, Joseph and Danielle Tonnos, Yasmeen and Farrah Tonnos, Joshua and Kandas Tonnos, Krysten and Derek Schiavone and Kyle and Siobhan Simic. She was a cherished Great Grandmother and Mam to Jacob and Aubrey Morrison, Payton, Matteo, Kaelan and Rhys Tonnos, Theoren and Trenton Tonnos, Tatum and Cohen Schiavone and Lachlan Simic. Mary is also survived by her brother in law, Most Reverend Bishop Anthony Tonnos-Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Hamilton, sister in law Mary Plese of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. We are filled with gratitude to Cecilia Landingin for her love, loyalty and compassion shown as our mother’s caregiver and are most grateful to Dr. Aaron Chan and Patti Estrela for the years of compassion, attention and professional care given to our Mom.
