Obituary of Gaspare Di Pasquale
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Speruccio (Gaspare) Di Pasquale in his 99th year on April 28, 2022. He has gone to join his beautiful wife Maria Eva (Ottaviano) who passed away in 2009. Dearly beloved father of his only daughter, Franca Spagnuolo and her husband Frank. Cherished Nonno to Chris Spagnuolo and his wife Tina and to Mark Spagnuolo. Beloved Nonno-Nonno to his precious Great-Grandson Leonardo. He was predeceased by his parents, Oreste and Pasquarosa Di Pasquale, his brother Domenico (Giuseppina), brother Ercole (Ersilia), sister Letterina (Biaggio), sister Adelina (Vittorio) and sister Baldina.
He will be missed deeply by his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews both here in Canada and in Italy, all of whom were very special to him in their own unique way. Gaspare leaves many friends behind who were like family to him.
Gaspare arrived from Italy in 1950, living with his brothers Domenico and Ercole until his wife and daughter joined him. He bought a home in Port Colborne and built a life for his family while earning a living as the town barber at “Gasper and Jerry’s Barber Shop".
He was a member of St. Therese Lisieux RC Church, the Bocci Club and a proud member of the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre where he helped serve many a delicious plate of pasta. He loved to play shuffle board and entertain at family functions with his organette bringing smiles to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. In his last years of life, he enjoyed gardening, making wine and talking with friends over an espresso. His secret to living to such a healthy life was his great sense of humour and a glass of red wine. Gaspare led a full and happy life with his friends and family. He will now be reunited with his beautiful wife Evuccia and all of his loved ones. Rest in peace Papa! We will miss you and your smiling blue eyes!
